Explore, Evoke, Evolve

The Guardian Boardroom – a transdisciplinary future prototype brings together Swedish and international actors – presenting an exploratory exhibition on biointelligent futures and new ways of making decisions. Explore, Evoke, Evolve takes you on a journey from today’s linear value chains to circular and regenerative systems.

THE PROJECT:

THE GUARDIAN BOARDROOM

reimagines the forestry industry, shifting from an extractive shareholder-driven value chain towards a regenerative stakeholder-led value system. This immersive project explores how current and emerging actors can adapt, thrive, and build resilience in a world shaped by climate change, geopolitical instability, and evolving ecosystem-based governance models.

The project develops prototypes that visualize possible futures; provoke reactions, engage and inspire innovation and change.

THE SCENARIO

(short version)

THEME: Ecosystems guide decision-making

We manage to stay within planetary boundaries, with major changes in the forest value chain.

VISION:

Sweden becomes the first biointelligent nation, where a deep understanding of the intelligent design of ecosystems shapes decision-making across the value chain. Biointelligence refers to the integration of biological knowledge as inspiration in societal development and economic systems. It’s about understanding how ecosystems function intelligently.

IMPACT ON SOCIETY:
The turning point toward becoming a biointelligent nation came after Sweden experienced severe consequences of climate change, including several years of uncontrollable wildfires, heatwaves, and floods. These events disrupted routines within the forest value chain, exposed unaccounted-for economic risks, and had profound societal impacts.

A major shift in public norms followed the conclusion of two landmark legal cases: one brought by the Sámi people seeking to defend the rights of nature, and another by young people who sued the state for inadequate climate policy and disregard for biodiversity. These cases set legal precedents and forced a new perspective on the value of biointelligence.

Can people with deep understanding of natural systems help us prevent future crises? Biointelligence has become a sought-after skill, leading to the hiring of Indigenous knowledge holders, bio-data analysts, and ecologists in innovation departments, investment firms, universities, and political institutions.

Touch the futures

by inviting year 2035 to the present, we can immerse ourselves in it; see it, feel it, smell it, touch it. And from that place make more informed, empathatic and strategic desicions today.
