THE CREATION STORY
OF THE MAD GUIDE
Once upon a time we (Fiona and me, Emelie), unknowingly of each other, decided to take a leap - leaving behind lives that looked pretty good on paper - to explore ourselves, the world and our place in it. Tying our boots and backpacks on, we embarked on expeditions ranging from Africa to Asia and South America. Throughout the journeys we met, worked and lived with people who inspired us beyond our wildest dreams. That became the beginning of the community and movement you today know as MAD.
As more and more people joined us on the MAD expeditions, we started to craft guides. The guides were filled with some of the questions, thoughts and stories we wish we had when we set out on our journeys. Now, we’ve brought our favorite nuggets together from expeditions that’s ranged across the Andes and into the Amazon, to the lush hills of Uganda and far beyond. Sparkled and spiced with bits and pieces from some of the remarkable mad people who continue to pioneer new ways of living and leading. Being the change they want to see. We call them the MAD Pioneers, and you’ll be meeting them - as the co-creators they are - throughout the book.
